12/24/07 -- Investigation At 01:48 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to a residence on West Main St. for a smoke detector sounding. The Engine Company checked the residence and found nothing wrong clearing at 02:06 hours. 12/22/07 -- Vehicle Accident Traffic Assist At 18:56 hours Traffic 3-13 was requested by Command 2-4 (Eden) to assist with traffic control at a vehicle accident with entrapment on Butter Road involving a passenger car underneath a milk truck. A total of 7 Fire Police from Station 3-13 responded to the scene and assisted 2-7 Fire Police in shutting down Butter Road between Jake Landis Road and the Rt.222 Northbound off ramp until the incident was complete at 20:08 hours. 12/22/07 -- Multiple Calls Our first call of the day was at 12:45 hours when Traffic 3-13 was requested to assist Station 2-7 (Neffsville) with traffic control at a two vehicle accident on Fruitville Pike. At 14:35 hours while 3-13 Crews were out in the community doing the annual Santa Claus Tour a Dwelling Fire Assignment was dispatched to a residence on Walnut Drive. Units arrived to find smoke in the dwelling due to a problem with a washing machine. While units were still responding to the call on Walnut Drive a second Dwelling Fire Assignment was dispatched to a residence on North Conestoga Lane for an electrical odor in the dwelling. This call was handled by units from 3-5 (Farmersville) 2-10 (Rothsville) and 2-4 (Eden )as well as Ambulance 3-8-1 (Leola). 12/20/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 18:14 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) to a vehicle accident on Rt.772 at the entrance ramp to Rt.222 Northbound. Units arrived to find a two vehicle injury crash. 3-13 crews assisted EMS with one patient and provided spill control clearing at 18:56 hours. 12/9/07 -- Dwelling Fire At 21:57 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with units from 3-11 (Upper Leacock), 3-5 (Farmersville), 2-4 (Eden), 4-10 (Witmer), and 1-15 (Ephrata) to a possible dwelling fire on Center Square Rd. All units cleared by 22:24. 12/8/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 07:34 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 1-5 (Ephrata) with traffic control at the scene of a one vehicle accident on Rt.222 Southbound at Mohler Church Road in Ephrata Township. 3-13 Fire Police shut down the right lane by the scene until the incident was complete at 08:30 hours. 12/4/07 -- Chicken House Fire At 17:50 hrs Station 3-13 along with Station 2-10 (Rothsville), Station 1-2 (Akron), Station 3-5 (Farmersville), Station 2-2 (Brunnerville), Station 2-7 (Neffsville), and Station 2-4 (Eden) were dispatched for a working chicken house fire. The first arriving units had heavy fire on sides B & C of a 44ft. x 360ft. 2-story chicken house. The 2nd alarm was requested. Fire was contained to half of the building. However, 38,000 of the 42,500 1 week old chicks perished in the blaze. Thanks to all for your help. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: 12/3/07 -- Multiple Calls Station 3-13 handled 4 calls between 18:58 hours and 23:30 hours. The evening started with a dispatch to the PP&L Sub Station on Old Akron Road for a transformer fire. Units from 3-13 and 1-2 stood by until the arrival of PP&L clearing at 19:43 hours. At 22:13 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to the West Earl Township Compost Site on Locust St. for a mulch pile on fire. While operating at this scene Tanker 3-13 was requested to respond to assist Station 3-10 (Martindale) at the scene of a Building Fire on Newswanger Road in Ephrata Township. The Tanker Crew operated at that scene until 23:52 hours. When Engine 3-13-1 cleared the call on Locust St. they were requested to stand by in Station to cover other units operating at the 3-10 fire. 12/2/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 08:24 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Station 2-4 (Eden), Ambulance 2-10 and Medic 4 to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Northbound just north of the Brownstown Exit. Engine 3-13-1 with OIC Captain Van Marter arrived to find one vehicle in the median with one person injured. Units cleared this scene at 08:56 hours and one half hour later at 09:26 were dispatched along with Ambulance 1-12-1,Medic 4 and Rescue 1-15 (Ephrata Rescue) to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Northbound just south of Rt.322. Engine 3-13-1 with OIC Captain Van Marter arrived to find one vehicle on its roof well off the roadway with one person injured. Units cleared this scene at 10:09 hours. 12/1/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 10:37 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) to a vehicle accident in the 3900 block of Oregon Pike in front of Oregon Pike motors. Engine 3-13-1 with OIC Captain Frymyer arrived to find a three vehicle crash with injuries. A second Ambulance was requested which brought Ambulance 1-12-1 (Ephrata) to the scene, also additional Fire Police were requested from Station 2-7 (Neffsville). Crews from 3-13 provided spill control, vehicle stabilization, depowering and also assisted EMS with patients. Fire Police shut down Oregon Pike between Stone Quarry Road and West Main St. until all units cleared at 11:34 hours. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: 11/17/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 18:18 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 1-12-1 (Ephrata) to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Southbound at Farmersville Road. Crews arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway that was reported to have flipped several times. EMS transported one patient. Fire Police shut down the right lane by the scene until units cleared at 19:11 hours. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: 11/15/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 04:14 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Stations 2-4 (Eden) and 2-11 (Southern Manheim Twp.) and Medic 2-13-1 (Manheim Twp.) to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Northbound just north of Bushong Road in Manheim Township. Units arrived to find a two vehicle accident with one vehicle well off the roadway. Engine 3-13-1's crew assisted Truck 2-4 in stabilizing that vehicle while the crew from Rescue 2-11 checked the second vehicle for hazards. Traffic 3-13 shut down the right lane by the scene until all units cleared at 04:48. 11/11/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 23:48 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Station 2-4 (Eden) and Ambulances from 2-10 and 3-8 and Medic 4 to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Southbound at Rt.772. Crews arrived to find one vehicle on its roof in the median with three injuries. Fire Police shut down the passing lanes on Rt.222 in both directions until units cleared at 00:49 hours. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: At 18:47 hours Engine 3-13-1 and Traffic 3-13, along with Truck 2-4 ( Eden) for the Rescue, Engine 2-4-1, Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) and Medic 4 were dispatched for a vehicle accident on Rt. 222. Upon arrival we found one vehicle on it's roof in the median between Farmersville Rd and Miley Rd. The driver had self extricated. Eng. 3-13-1 crew checked for hazards and provided lighting for the tow. Station 2-4 was recalled. Units cleared at 19:36. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: 11/8/2007 -- Vehicle Accident At 05:25 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to assist Station 2-4 ( Eden) on a vehicle accident on Rt. 222 south in the area of Oregon Pike. Engine 3-13-1 arrived just behind Truck 2-4 to find one vehicle on it's roof off the right side of the highway. Engine 3-13-1 assisted with blocking the right lane of travel, scene lighting, and making patient contact. Patient was turned over to EMS (Medic 2-13-2) and Engine 3-13-1 was cleared at 05:40. 11/4/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 01:37 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulances from 2-10 (Rothsville) and 3-8 (Leola) and Medic 4 to a vehicle accident in the 200 block of Stone Quarry Road. Units arrived to find one Sport Utility Vehicle on its side with both occupants out. Engine 3-13-1's crew assisted EMS with two patients and remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed. Fire Police shut down Stone Quarry Road between Rosewood Drive and Rt.272 until the incident was complete. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: 11/2/2007 -- Brush Fire At 23:27 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to a residence on Cocalico Creek Road to extinguish a brush pile that was burning. Units went available at 00:23 hours. 10/30/07 -- Vehicle Accident and Spill Control At 07:07 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulances from 2-10 (Rothsville) and 1-12 (Ephrata) to a three vehicle injury crash at Rt.272 and Lauber Road. EMS units transported 4 patients. Engine Company provided spill control and remained on the scene until all vehicles were removed clearing at 07:53 hours. 10/29/2007 -- Vehicle Accident At 01:22 hours Station 3-13 along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) responded to a vehicle accident at Rt.272 and Rt.772 involving a tractor trailer and a pick up truck. EMS transported one patient. The Engine Company took care of spill control and cleared at 02:13 hours. 10/28/2007 -- Traffic Control Assist at Structure Fire At 08:17 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7 (Neffsville) with traffic control at the scene of a working dwelling fire in the 2400 block of Lititz Pike. Upon arrival Traffic 3-13 shut down Rt.501 at Buch Ave. and remained at that intersection for the duration of the incident clearing at 11:59 hours. 10/20/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 17:04 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 3-8-2 (Leola) to a vehicle accident involving two vehicles at East Main St. and West Farmersville Road. All patients were checked by EMS and were not transported. Engine Company provided spill control and remained on the scene until both vehicles were removed clearing at 17:50 hours. 10/9/07 -- Brush Fire At 13:12 hours Tanker 3-13 was dispatched to assist Manheim Township Companies on a working brush fire at the Manheim Township Compost Site on Oregon Pike. Upon arrival Tanker 3-13 supplied Engine 2-7-2 (Neffsville) with water and the Tanker Crew assisted with extinguishing the fire clearing at 13:54 hours. 10/3/07 -- Tanker and Fire Police Assist with Presidential Visit Station 3-13 was asked to assist with President Bush's visit to Lancaster County. Tanker 3-13 was stationed at the Lancaster Airport along with Stations 2-15 (Lancaster Airport), 2-7 (Neffsville) and 2-4 (Eden). In addition, three 3-13 Fire Police Officers, along with Traffic 3-13, assisted with the President's visit. Two Officers were positioned on Rte. 222 and one Officer, with Traffic 3-13, was positioned at Fruitville Pike and Rte. 30, all working with police departments and the Secret Service assisting with providing security for the president's motorcade. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: 8/22/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 07:24 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) to a vehicle accident involving two vehicles at Rt.272 and Old Akron Road. Engine Company provided spill control and assisted EMS with one patient. Traffic 3-13 remained on the scene until both vehicles were removed clearing at 08:00. 8/8/07 -- Dwelling Fire At 14:22 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with units from 1-2 (Akron), 1-15 (Ephrata Rescue), 2-4 (Eden), 2-10 (Rothsville) and 3-5 (Farmersville) to a Dwelling Fire on Southview Drive. Engine 3-13-1 with OIC Captain Hursh and a full crew arrived on the scene 6 minutes after dispatch and found a working electrical fire in the basement. First arriving crews made a quick stop on what could have been a major fire. Units operated on the scene until 15:38 hours. A big thank you to all assist companies on a very hot day. 8/6/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 00:25 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to a non injury vehicle accident on Rt.222 Southbound at Pool Road. Arrived to find one vehicle on its side off the roadway. Crews remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed, clearing at 01:09 hours. 8/5/07 -- Automatic Fire Alarm At 09:32 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched with Station 2-4 (Eden) to an automatic fire alarm on Riveredge Drive. There was a small fire on the stove that was extinguished by the home owner prior to Fire Department arrival. Engine 3-13-1 was available at 09:48 hours. 8/5/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 08:03 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7 (Neffsville) with traffic control at an accident involving a horse and buggy on Creek Road. Traffic 3-13 shut down Creek Road at East Oregon Road until released at 08:23 hours. 8/2/07 -- Ambulance Assist At 00:31 hours Engine 3-13-1 was requested by Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) for lifting assistance at the scene of an EMS call on Vanderbilt Drive. The Engine cleared at 00:45. 7/30/07 -- Spill Control At 05:37 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched for spill control as the result of a two vehicle non injury crash involving a sport utility vehicle and a garbage truck. Engine 3-13-1 remained on the scene until 07:32 hours cleaning up a large amount of fluids on the roadway. At 01:34 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched as part of the first alarm assignment to assist Station 2-10 (Rothsville) at the scene of a working Barn fire on East Millport Road. Tanker 3-13 was the second arriving unit on the scene and assisted Engine 2-10-1 with water supply. Engine 3-13-1 was the fourth unit to arrive on the scene behind Engine 2-10-2 and assisted with fire suppression. Engine 3-13-1 operated on the scene until 06:32 hours, Tanker 3-13 cleared at 07:16. Move curser over Picture for info -- Click on Picture to see a larger image: 7/27/07 -- Dwelling Fire At 18:30 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched as part of a first alarm assignment to assist Station 2-10 (Rothsville) on a reported Dwelling Fire. Upon arrival at the scene the Engine's Crew was held with the piece until being released by Command 2-10 at 18:47 hours. 7/27/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 13:14 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) to a vehicle accident at RT. 272 and Rt. 772. Deputy 3-13 arrived to find a minor two vehicle accident with one injury. Units were available at 13:29 hours. 7/26/07 -- Brush Fire At 12:20 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to a brush fire on Rt.222 Southbound south of Rt.322. Engine 3-13-1 responded with a crew of 5 and Asst. Chief Nolt as the OIC. County radio advised they were receiving numerous calls reporting a working brush fire so Tanker 3-10 (Martindale) was added to the assignment for additional water supply. Units were available at 13:07 hours. 7/20/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 13:33 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to Rt.272 and Rt.772 for spill control from a two vehicle non injury accident. The Engine Company was available at 13:50 hours. 7/19/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 17:54 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) to a vehicle accident at Rt.272 and Rt.772. Units arrived to find a two vehicle crash with one vehicle on its side and all occupants self extricated. Engine Company provided spill control. Fire Police provided traffic control in the intersection until both vehicles were removed. Units were available at 18:36 hours. 7/18/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 07:56 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7 (Neffsville) with traffic control at the scene of a two vehicle injury crash at Rt.272 and Creek Road. Traffic 3-13 provided traffic control at the intersection and remained on the scene until both vehicles were removed clearing at 08:52 hours. 7/12/07 -- Traffic Control Assist for Gas Leak At 07:30 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7 (Neffsville) with traffic control at an active gas leak on East Oregon Road. Upon arrival Traffic 3-13 shut down East Oregon Road at Rt.501 and remained at that position until the utility company arrived to shut off the leak. 7/6/07 -- Dwelling Fire Assist At 07:31 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7(Neffsville)for traffic control at the scene of a Dwelling Fire behind the Neffsville Turkey Hill. Upon arrival Traffic 3-13 shut down Valley Road at Rt.501 and remained on the scene until 08:13 hours. 7/2/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 16:27 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-10 (Rothsville) with traffic control at a vehicle accident on Rt.772 at Rabbit Hill Road with a vehicle into a pole. Upon arrival the Traffic Unit shut down Rt.772 at Skyview Lane and kept the roadway shut down until PP&L arrived to secure the pole. Traffic 3-13 went available at 17:32 hours. 6/28/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 22:06 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-4 at a vehicle accident involving an overturned tractor trailer loaded with ice cream. Upon arrival the Traffic Unit shut down the ramp from Rt.222 Southbound to Rt.30 Westbound and remained at that location until the truck was unloaded and removed from the scene. Traffic 3-13 cleared at 04:44 hours on 6/29. 6/27/07 -- Automatic Alarm At 21:45 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Station 3-5 (Farmersville) and Ambulance 3-8-1 (Leola) to an Automatic Alarm on Wheat Ridge Drive at the Fairmount Homes complex. 3-13 units were available at 22:19 hours. 6/27/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 17:10 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) to a vehicle accident on Rt.772 at the entrance to Sheetz. Arrived to find a two vehicle crash with no injuries and fluids on the roadway. Units were available at 17:36 hours. 6/25/07 -- Station Stand-by At 02:43 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to cover Station 2-4 (Eden) while they assisted Station 2-11 (Southern Manheim Twp.) at a 2 alarm building fire on North Prince St. Engine 3-13-1 stood by until released at 05:50 hours. 6/18/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 07:49 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Station 2-4 (Eden) and Medic 2-13-1 to a vehicle accident with reported entrapment on Rt.222 Southbound just north of the Oregon Pike Exit. Engine 3-13-1 with OIC Captain Hursh and a crew of 5 arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway with the driver confined. The Engine Crew pulled a line and went in service with the rescue tools and removed the driver's side door from the vehicle. Truck 2-4 arrived and their crew assisted the Engine Crew and EMS in removing the patient from the vehicle. Units were available at 08:14 hours. 6/16/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 00:05 hours Traffic 3-13 and Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) were dispatched to a one vehicle accident on Rt.272 at Lauber Road. Arrived to find one vehicle into a road bank with no fluids leaking. Ambulance 2-10 transported one patient. Traffic 3-13 remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed clearing at 00:56 hours. 6/11/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 09:17 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 3-8-1 to a Vehicle Accident at Main and State Sts. in Brownstown. Crews arrived to find a two vehicle accident with no injuries and a large amount of fluids on the roadway. Units were available at 09:58 hours 6/10/07 -- Dwelling Fire Assist At 21:03 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched with several other departments to assist Station 2-4 (Eden) at a Dwelling Fire on Butter Road. The Engine was recalled before arrival. 6/9/07 -- Building Fire Assist At 03:11 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Engine 1-2-1 (Akron) and Truck 1-5 (Ephrata) to assist Station 3-5 (Farmersville) at a Building Fire at an Amish School House on Pleasant Valley Road. Crews from 3-13 assisted at the scene until 04:12 hours. 6/8/07 -- Motorcycle Accident At 16:27 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Station 2-4 (Eden) to a Motorcycle Accident on Rt.222 Northbound at the Oregon Pike Exit. Engine 3-13-1 was recalled before arrival, Traffic 3-13 was on the scene for five minutes assisting with traffic control. 6/7/07 -- Vehicle Accidents At 22:48 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to Rt.272 and Stone Quarry Road for a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer. Upon arrival crews found a passenger car underneath a milk truck with no injuries. Engine 3-13-1 remained on the scene until the vehicle was removed from underneath the truck. While we were still on the scene of this call Station 1-2 (Akron) was dispatched for a vehicle accident on Rt.272 in front of the Turkey Hill in Akron. Command 1-2 requested Traffic 3-13 to the scene so the Traffic unit responded from this scene and assisted in Akron until 00:36 hours 6/7/07 -- Traffic Control Assist At 02:40 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched along with numerous other Fire Police to East Earl Township to assist in the area after a Police Officer had been shot. Traffic 3-13 staged in the parking lot of Good's Store on Rt.23 and assisted with the news media until released at 05:29 hours 6/6/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 16:38 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Rescue
1-15 (Ephrata Rescue), Ambulance 1-12-2 and Medic 4 to a one vehicle
accident on Rt. 222 Southbound at the Miley Road overpass. 6/2/07 - Building Fire Assist At 20:06 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched with other units as part of an upgraded building assignment to assist Station 2-4 (Eden) at Universal Fitness on Oregon Pike. The Engine responded with OIC Captain Van Marter and a full crew. Upon arrival they were instructed to hold at a hydrant near the main entrance. They held that position until released at 20:34 hours.
5/21/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 17:24 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Southbound at Rt.322. Upon arrival Deputy 3-13 determined no fire services would be needed and recalled all units with the exception of Traffic 3-13 and Ambulance 1-12-1. All remaining units were clear at 17:41. 5/19/07 -- Dwelling Fire At 05:24 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to assist Station 3-11 (Upper Leacock) at the scene of a working dwelling fire on Ridgeview Drive. Upon arrival Engine 3-13-1 with OIC Captain Fisher and a full crew were requested to lay a supply line into the scene. Crews assisted with extensive overhaul until being released at 09:59 hours. 5/19/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 00:36 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-4 (Eden) at a vehicle accident with entrapment on Rt.30 westbound at Rt.23.Upon arrival Traffic 3-13 assisted Traffic 2-7 (Neffsville) in shutting down Rt.30 West at Rt.23. Later on into the incident Rt.30 Westbound was shut down at the Walnut St. exit by Squad 4-10 (Witmer) and Station 4-1 (Bird-In-Hand) Fire Police. At that time Traffic 3-13 was relocated on to Rt.23 and assisted there until released at 05:30. 5/13/07 -- Bicyclist Struck At 23:06 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) and Medic 4 (Ephrata) to the 4400 block of Oregon Pike for a bicyclist that was struck by a vehicle. After EMS transported the rider to the hospital Fire Department remained on the scene to assist the Police Dept. with lighting and traffic control. Units were available at 00:59 on 5/14. 5/13/07 -- Vehicle Accident At 12:39 hours While Station 3-13 Fire Police were getting ready to go out and assist with the annual Make-A-Wish Truck Convoy Station 3-13 along with Station 1-2 (Akron) and Ambulance 1-12-1 (Ephrata) were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Rt.272 in front of Good To U Auto Sales. Units arrived to find a two vehicle crash with no injuries. After providing spill control all units cleared with the exception of Fire Police who remained on the scene until one vehicle was removed. 5/13/07 -- Traffic Control Assist At 02:39 hours The day started off with Traffic 3-13 getting dispatched to assist Station 2-7(Neffsville) with traffic control at a Building Fire. Traffic 3-13 was requested to shut down Rt.501 at Valley Road while Station 2-7 operated at a building fire on Meadow Lane. The Traffic Unit cleared at 04:30 5/11/07 -- Vehicle Fire At 16:07 hours Station 3-13 was once again dispatched to Rt.222 in the area of Farmersville Road for a vehicle fire. This turned out not to be a vehicle fire and units went available at 16:14. 5/11/07 -- Vehicle Fire At 06:43 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Engine 2-4-1 (Eden) to a vehicle fire on Rt.222 Southbound South Of Pool Road. Deputy 3-13 arrived to find a working engine compartment fire in a full size van. Crews from 3-13 had the fire under control at 06:58 hours, Engine 2-4-1 was placed available shortly after arrival. Units were clear at 07:20 hours. Special thanks to the Fire Police Officer from Station 1-8 (Reinholds) who stopped traffic on Rt.222 north of the scene to allow responding units quick access. 05/07/07-- Vehicle Accident At 08:23 County Radio alerted Station 313, Rescue 115, Ambulance 38-1 and Medic 3 for a crash on route 222 northbound just north of route 772. County advised Deputy 313 on his response they had reports of several patients and also that there was possibly fire. West Earl Police arrived on scene and advised the location to be just south of Farmersville Rd. County advised that Police were requesting a helicopter bringing Pennstar 4 and Engine 210-1 to the scene. County also added Additional EMS bringing Ambulances 38-2, 112-1, 112-2, also Medic 4 and 213-1. Deputy 313 arrived confirming 4 patients and established Command 313. Captain 313-1 handled the LZ Command. EMS also requested an additional chopper bringing Skycare1 to the scene. The incident was brought under control by 09:00 and command held Engine 313-1 and the Fire Police units releasing the rest. Command was terminated and Engine 313-1 was released at 12:49. Fire Police remained on scene and the highway was closed North bound till 14:49. Additional - units assisting - Traffic 313, 27 and 311. Also station 15 Fire Police. Click on thumbnail to see larger a picture: Person Struck - 5/5/0 At 17:45 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 2-10 (Rothsville) and Medic 4 (Ephrata) to a residence on West Metzler Road for a person struck. Initial reports from county radio advised of a young male that was struck by a dirt bike. Upon arrival Engine 3-13-1's crew with OIC Firefighter Hummel began patient care and requested a helicopter for transport. This brought Pennstar 4 out of the Reading area to the scene. Also an additional Engine was requested to set up a Landing Zone and this brought Engine 1-2-2(Akron)to the scene. Captain 3-13-1(Hursh)arrived and established the LZ Command. Units were available at 18:44 hours. Many thanks to all personnel that assisted at the scene. Vehicle Accident -- 5/2/07 At 08:55 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched along with Ambulance 3-8-1 (LEOLA) and Medic 4 out of Ephrata to a vehicle accident on Rt. 222 Southbound at the Main St. overpass. Upon arrival of Deputy 3-13 he found one vehicle upright off the roadway that had been struck by a tractor trailer. The accident had been dispatched with entrapment however there was none so Rescue 1-15 (EPHRATA RESCUE) was recalled. The driver was transported to the hospital by EMS. Traffic 3-13 remained on the scene until 09:44 hours when the vehicle was removed. Vehicle Accident -- 4/22/07 At 00:03 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to a vehicle accident on Rt.222 Northbound at Farmersville Road. Arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway as the result of a hit and run accident. All occupants were transported to the hospital by EMS. Units were clear at 01:02 hours. Odor Investigation -- 4/17/07 At 15:14 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched for an odor investigation inside a residence on Rosewood Drive. Crews did a complete check of the residence and the source was believed to be an electric blanket. Crews cleared at 15:51 hours. Vehicle Fire -- 4/17/07 At 08:35 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Rt.772 at the Rt.222 southbound off ramp. The fire was out upon Fire Department arrival. Units were clear at 08:44 hours. Automatic fire alarm -- 4/15/07 At 15:20 hours Station 3-13 was dispatched to an automatic fire alarm at D&E Communications on Oregon Pike. Crews checked the building and cleared at 16:02 hours after the alarm was reset. Smoke investigation -- 4/14/07 At 21:30 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to an investigation on Rt.222 Northbound in the area of Pleasant Valley Road for a report of smoke drifting across the highway. Chief 3-13 arrived and found the source to be smoke from the chimney of a building along Rt.222. After checking to make sure there were no problems units went available at 21:47 hours. Fire Police Assist -- 4/13/07 At 05:55 hours, just minutes after Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched for the engine company transfer, Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7 at the scene of their dwelling fire on Blacksmith Way. Upon arrival Traffic 3-13 assisted with scene control until released at 07:55 hours. Engine Company Transfer -- 4/13/07 At 05:49 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched to Station 2-7 (NEFFSVILLE) for an engine company transfer while Station 2-7 operated at a working dwelling fire. Engine 3-13-1 was on stand-by at Station 2-7 until 09:28 hours. Fire Police Assist -- 4/12/07 At 09:52 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to Rose Hill Road and South View Drive to assist West Earl Police Department with a tractor trailer that became stuck in the mud and had the roadway completely blocked. Traffic 3-13 assisted with traffic control until 10:29 hours when the truck was removed. Vehicle Accident with spill -- 4/10/07 At 13:37 hours 3-13 Fire Police were dispatched to East Oregon Road and Becker Road in Manheim Twp. to assist Station 2-10 (ROTHSVILLE) in shutting down Becker Road due to a jack knifed tractor trailer with a diesel fuel spill. 3-13 Fire Police kept the roadway shut down while crews from 2-10 and 2-9 (LANCASTER COUNTY HAZ-MAT) cleaned up the spill. Units were available at 14:46 hours. Automatic Fire Alarm -- 4/1/07 At 09:10 hours Dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm on Chapel Lane. Engine 3-13-1 responded with Officer In Charge Captain Van Marter and a full crew. Upon arrival it was determined the alarm was set off by steam from a shower. The incident was complete at 09:17. Vehicle Accident -- 3/30/07 At 17:34 hours, while members were at Station getting ready for our annual sale, we heard a loud bang on Rt.772. We turned around to see a vehicle accident at Rt.772 and School Lane Ave. Engine 3-13-1 and Traffic 3-13 were on the scene within a minute, finding a two vehicle accident with no injuries. Crews cleared in ten minutes once both vehicles were removed from the roadway. Tanker Assist -- 3/28/07 At 18:31 hours Tanker 3-13 was dispatched along with several other departments to assist Station 1-2 (AKRON) on a reported Dwelling Fire on Heritage Road in Ephrata Township. All units were recalled at 18:36 hours with the exception of Station 1-2. Public Service Call -- 3/27/07 At 10:35 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched on a Public Service call to the Conestoga Manor Mobile Home Park on Oregon Pike to assist the West Earl Police Dept. in gaining access to a residence. Units were available at 10:51 hours Fire Police Assist -- 3/26/07 At 17:28 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-7 (NEFFSVILLE) at a two vehicle injury accident in front of the Hess Station on Oregon Pike. We assisted with traffic control until released at 17:52 hours. Less than two hours later at 19:41 hours Traffic 3-13 was once again dispatched this time to assist Station 2-10 (ROTHSVILLE). We were requested to shut down Rothsville Road at Main St. while Station 2-10 was at a two vehicle non-injury accident on Rothsville Road at Briar Hill Road. Traffic 3-13 cleared at 20:07 hours. Vehicle Accident -- 3/24/07 At 11:12 hours, while Engine 3-13-1 and Squad 3-13 were at the Lancaster County Public Safety Training Center doing a vehicle rescue class, Tanker 3-13 along with Station 2-4 (EDEN), Engine 2-10-1 (ROTHSVILLE), Ambulance 2-10, Ambulance 3-8-1 and Medic 4 were dispatched to a vehicle accident on Rt. 222 southbound north of Rt. 772. Chief 3-13 arrived and found one vehicle into a tree with one person confined. Engine 2-10-1's crew provided vehicle stabilization while crews from 3-13 and 2-4 removed the two rear doors of the vehicle. Units cleared the scene at 11:55 hours. Investigation -- 3/23/07 At 12:17 hours Engine 3-13-1 was dispatched for an Investigation at the Conestoga Manor Mobile Home Park on Oregon Pike. There had been an Electrical fire in a fan above the stove that was extinguished by the home owner prior to Fire Department arrival. The Engine Crew disconnected the electrical source to the unit and went available at 12:34 hours. Fire Police Assist -- 3/22/07
At 20:50 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist the West Earl Police Department in shutting down one lane of Rt.222 Southbound in the area of Pleasant Valley Road. A roll back towing two vehicles went off the roadway and became stuck in the median. Fire Police cleared the scene at 21:46 hours after all vehicles were removed. Barn Fire?? -- 3/19/07
At 20:14 hours Station 3-13 along with numerous other departments were dispatched to a reported barn fire in the 3800 block of Oregon Pike. The Police Department arrived on the scene and reported the fire was in a burn barrel and not involving the barn. Chief 3-13 recalled all units. Tanker Assist -- 03/16-07 At 23:01 hours Tanker 3-13 was dispatched to cover station 4-10 (Witmer) while they were assisting station 4-8 (Ronks) on a working building fire at the Rockvale Square outlet. Tanker 3-13 was released at 00:51 hours. Fire Police assist call -- 03/13/07 At 19:16 hours Traffic 3-13 was dispatched to assist Station 2-11 on Route 30 westbound at Route 283 for a vehicle accident with entrapment. Upon arrival Traffic 3-13 shut down the collector road from Route 501 to Route 30 West. After this was completed Traffic 3-13 relocated to Route 30 westbound east of Route 283 and assisted Traffic 2-7 in shutting down two lanes of Route 30 westbound. Traffic 3-13 cleared the scene at 20:34 hours. Fire on Hawk lane -- 01/31/07 Engine and Tanker 313 and several other mutual aid companies were dispatched this morning at 09:58 hours by County Radio to Hawk Lane in the township for a reported house fire. County advised Deputy 313 on his response that they were receiving multiple reports of a working Garage fire. Chief 35 (Farmersville) arrived several minutes later and confirmed a working garage fire in a duplex with extension into the house. A second alarm was then dispatched. First arriving crews were able to secure a water supply and make a quick attack on the fire. Thanks to the quick response and quick work of the first arriving units the fire was quickly brought under control. Crews then checked for hot spots and assisted the State Police Fire Marshall with his investigation. The last crews cleared the scene at 13:01 hrs.
